swapping my alloys to 996 type????

[8D] Hi i wondered if anyone could tell me whether i need spacers to fit 993 or 996 alloys to my 86 3.2? i was looking at 10j 18" rears and 7.5j 18" fronts.

Yes you certainly will need spacers as the offsets are quite different. I can't tell you what size but they will be about an inch or more. If you can find the offset of the wheels I can work out the difference between them and Fuchs and let you know the size spacers required. I would also anticipate that you will have clearance issues on the rears. With a 10 inch rear wheel you may need to re-route the oil lines, grind down the camber adjusting bolts on the trailing arms and roll the fender lips. The fronts should actually work ok.

The aesthetic merits and the performance benefits/detriments of the swap to 18s are a whole other kettle of fish...
