Swirl Marks - How Annoying!

Guest

New member
I've just noticed that my 4 month old basalt black 987 has lots of tiny swirl marks on it. These are only noticable in direct sunlight - but are annoying.

Does anyone have any idea on where they came from? Is there any way of removing them?

Since I've had the car from new it's only ever been washed by hand with a sponge and dried with microfibre cloths. I've polished once with Zymol - HD clense and wax.

Any thoughts? [FONT=verdana,geneva"]

Probably came on the car via the OPC [;)] I was super careful when washing my Lapis Blue example but within a very short space of time I was swirled up too [&o] Hence my current car is in bullet proof impossible to swirl Arctic [8D]

Just ask for them not to wash it ... we always do .. Both our cars are Zymoled (is that a word) so we just ask say .. please dont wash .. they do what we ask ...

Its really easy actually

Bet a dollar they were caused by the service wash at the OPC.

Think you lost a dollar unless there was a warranty claim courtesy wash on a 4 month old car! [;)]

BTW, I found out from one of the West London OPC engineer that they use one of those shampoo which contains wax to wash the cars, so it might be worth asking for a service discount by un-ticking the option for a courtesy wash...

Some use TFR (traffic film remover) Does exactly what it says - and removes your lovingly, and sometimes expensively applied, wax too!

Just don't let them wash your car period.

Paul (Mr Miracle Detail) posts a lot over on Pistonheads and some of the work he has done is amazing. I think he has been in Autocar and Autoexpress over the last couple of weeks with his £5,000 car wash.

You could almost get a couple of OPC complete resprays for £5000!

That would definitely be with the swirls included then :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Hey Daro. Wouldn't say Arctic is " bullet proof impossible to swirl". Mine had all kinds of pretty patterns which took 2 visits from the detailer to clear.

Does anyone know a good Zymol Detailer in the South West? I would like to get the Boxster done.

Have a look at the post entitled "Car Detailing in Gloucestershire" in the R16 forum.
