Switchable exhaust

My C4S has a factory switchable exhaust. I haven't used it for a few weeks but starting the car this morning it fired up immediately and defaulted to the sport mode as usual. However part way through my journey I noticed that the exhaust had changed from sport mode and found that the dashboard switch did not make a difference, nor was there a light indicating it was working.

So my question is , have I got a mechanical problem or an electrical one. Given that the default mode is sport I would have thought that any component failure would leave it like that but I seem to have the opposite outcome.

I'd like to think the problem is just a bit of corrosion stopping the exhaust flap from functioning but I will probably find it's more than that!

I also think it would default to loud. Is it quiet on both sides? The actuating arms can corrode and break.

It might be worth checking fuse B10, and the vacuum connections in the engine bay. The valve is mounted on the top right hand side of the engine IIRC. I also guess the valve could be stuck closed.

Thanks Richard

It will need a bit more investigating

As I move house on Friday week this weekend is earmarked for packing so will just have to put up with a quiet car for the time being.

Depends on whether you have the original "Mk1" PSE or the later "Mk2".
