Switchable PSE

I've come across a C4S with what the dealer describes as a "switchable PSE". He says that it using a switch the noise can be increased or reduced, effectively turning the PSE on or off. Is this the case with all PSEs? If not has anybody had experience of it. Seems like a nice idea though.

The PSE has the option to be fitted with this switch, yes. Generally when bought from new they were always fitted with this.

If you fit one yourself "aftermarket" however you can just have the exhaust, as the switch does up the price a bit[:D]

My 1998 3.4 was fitted with the switcheable system in November - haven't stopped smiling since. It is an electronic switch and shuts off the PSE at the press of the button. Its default position (ie when you start up) is ON.

If you have the switch fitted the exhaust will always be switched to the quiet mode between 25 - 47 mph which I found very frustrating.......so I found some info on this forum and had my mechanic disable this setting which means when its on its on and when its off its off!!

The only time I turn it off is when cruising on the motorway, it does make a lot of differents at 80-90mph!

So where is the PSE switch if I have one?

Mine has the spoiler switch in the drivers footwell but I have the Areo Kit so spioler is fixed so doesn't do anything.

my switch was fitted on one of the blank switch housings on the right hand side of the centre console - very neat.
hugh

List price is £3403.81 inc VAT plus fitting. The book time is 7.5 hours. I'm sure an OPC or indy would give you an all-inclusive offer, but it won't be anywhere near the £1500 some OPCs were doing it for last year. Unless you can find someone with old stock......

Thanks Richard - why has the price shot up so much ?

What is the difference between the old and new stock ?

A) Ask Mr Porsche. I can never make any sense of their pricing policy, and have given up trying. Some items are ridiculously cheap, and some ridiculously expensive. There is no rhyme or reason to it. For example, the 4-way steerng column stalks (used when doing cruise control and OBC retrofits) were about £120 for years. End of last year they went DOWN to about £85 for 3 months, and now they are £183.

B) No difference at all - it is exactly the same kit, and part number. I just suggested it as someone may have one in stock they would sell at the old price.
