system adaption

Folks, I had to reconnected my battery last night and then took the car for a run, however she stalled a few times and generally acted like she had had a good gulp of cod liver oil...running very unsmoothly. I've been advised that a "System adaption" is required following the battery reconnection...is this really required or will she sort herself out after a few days?

Any past experience with reconnecting the battery and having similar problems would be much appreciated!

As I'm sure you already appreciate, disconnecting the battery will reset the dynamic data in the DME. When the battery is re-connected it is recommended to let the engine idle for a minute or two and then take the car for a "vigorous" drive. This will let the DME remap the variable data and adjust to your driving style. I suspect it would happen anyway over the course of a few days of normal driving. Many recommend that you "drive like you stole it"!!

thanks for the advice guys, drove her pretty hard over the weekend but still stalls when cold - booked her in for system adaption this weekend which should hopefully sort out the stalling.
