I had a problem with my boot mechanism last week as well, please see this thread for all the helpful advice i received... http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=166468&mpage=2&key=𨻧
Having fixed my boot, i realised that the right one wasnt actually workign very well, and i managed to fix this by lossing the nuts that keep the mechanism and the drainage pieces in place. You may also have an issue with the rods, but you will see this when you take the carpet up as suggested by Graeme in my post.

I've got into the habit of removing the latches at least once a year, cleaning them out with WD40 and then lubing them up again with 3 in 1 oil before refitting. Takes 30 mins tops and is well worth it. Extravagent people could just buy new latches which are only £20ish each [8|]
