taken radio out, car now imobilised ! help !

Hi all,
I was swappiong out the radio that came with my 993 today, to replace it with a becker unit.
I couldnt get the becker unit to output to the speakers, tho it powers up.
In the end I gave up for today, and disconnected all the wires, ready for another go tomorrow...
However, tonight, I've got in the car to go for a drive, and it wont start ! :crying:
When I turn the key, all the warning lights come on, then when I turn it the extra bit to crank the engine, nothing happens !
There is lots of clicking from a relay somewhere in the front of the dashboard, sounds like behind the aircon controls, and as I crank it, all the lights flicker, and the dials move around.. But nothing happens at the engine end..
Help !!
What have I done to my new car :(
I'm guessing I've triggered the imobiliser somehow, and it needs resetting ?
But I've no idea how..
Looking and unlocking the car by the remote makes no difference..
I've also swapped the DME relay over just incase, but as the car isnt even turning over I dont think it was anything to do with that..
Anyone know what I've done ?
The car is a MY96 993, and it has the pa2000 alarm fitted..
 
There is a black box in the engine compartment on the left. Try switching that off and on with the key you have with the 2000 immoblizer/alarm.

On all 993s ? I was told about something like this when handed the keys by the previous owner. I have a small key but I've never noticed the box.

Just been and searched the left hand side of the engine compartment and all I can find is a horn (is this the alarm horn?) and a flat plastic box with a high voltage warning sticker. Neither have anywhere I can fit the key I was given.

Any more clues?
 
If you have PS2000 alarm the box is there up high just under the body left side of engine opening. The key hole is covered by a cap so maybe you couldn't see it. You will need to turn this off if you disconnect the battery otherwise the alarm will go off. Reading your note again I think Maurice is probably right it could well be a flat battery.

I started with the simple thing, the battery, and doh ! yes, it had gone flat.
A quick jumpstart from my other car and we were away [:)]

Weird tho, the battery was strong enough to power the alarm, the sunroof, and electric windows, but not turn the engine over...

Went for a long drive to recharge the battery, took a few pictures of the car with the new clear corners, and red taillights, which was great, except I got a puncture in my rear tyre on the way back.. [:(]

Just not my weekend !!

More on the tyre in another thread, it was pretty scary [:(]

I have a PA2000 alarm, but dont seem to have a key... Not had chance to look for the keyhole yet, but is it the ignition key that fits, or should I have another one ?

No, its not the ignition key, but a small one, like a small padlock key. Maybe your set up is different to mine?

PS. just for interest My battery went flat a couple of weeks ago. Just went without warning. Well it was 5 years old, but it was still a bit of shock when it happened. Fortunately the car was outside my home.

That's entirely normal. The biggest drain on the battery is cranking the engine. The rest of the functions are relatively are relatively insignificant.

A battery conditioner is a valuable piece of kit if your car spends long periods of time in the garage.
Don't recommend jump starting the car, often damages the DME unit.
When your battery is flat then I suggest charging it with a battery charger rather than taking it for a run, not as much fun but the alternator may not overcome the resistance of a flat battery.
