Talk to me about Targas

All this talk of gen 1 v gen 2 and the delights of pdk etc have set me thinking. I have always quite fancied the idea of a targa but have never actually driven one. I dont fancy a cab for a combination of space and security issues - my car spends a fair bit of its time in airport car parks - but a targa seems to combine the best of both worlds.

Poking about this afternoon I came across this one:

(not sure that link works but it is the 08 pdk Targa 4S at Wilmslow)

Anyone know anything about the car or have any views on the spec etc? Any other targa experiences to recount? Is the rear leg room basically the same as the C4S?

Andrew, there are a few Targa owners on here, so hopefully they'll reply...
But to my knowledge Yes they are a wide bodied C4 withthe same legroom etc...

You'll here about the disadvantages of the weight being up high etc but in the real world I think the Targa is an excellent proposition- my wife wold have one tomorrow!!
And day to day driving the weight and COG would bot bother you, I've been out with a fair few owners and its not bothered them either []
Quite a rare motor to be fair...

Thank you very much Gary. Looking at the pictures on the web I am trying to figure out if the dash is leather. Is it as standard? I quite like the stitching around mine, it looks quite classy but i guess it is hard to get the perfect spec second hand which is why people buy new!

Just ran the VIN, yes the dash is full leather and btw, ableit on a 2008 plate that is a 2009 model (PCM 3 is the give-away).

Thanks very much Nick. I guessed it was a 2009 model with the pdk too (can you have a pdk box without PCM3?). I am talking myself into this - shame Wilmslow is so far away!

No but there were some early 2009 pre-face lift ie not 997.2 cars mostly GT2 or GT3s that had PCM3 though.

So I spoke to the nice people at Wilmslow OPC today. The car is on consignment, which seems a bit odd - do opc's often do this? Anyway, with no cash tied up in the car it means they are very unmotivated for a trade in and the "cost to change" was ridiculous. I suspect some cash buyer out there will get a bit of a bargain. I wonder how much of the sale price they will take?
