Talking of Torque Tubes

Spot the cause of a knocking sound at the rear.

Not the word I used when I looked at it.
Both bottom bolts had gone walkies, despite being thread locked. So I suppose they could have sheared.
I think the Transaxle ate itself as it was getting pretty noisey on engine braking, will open it up and see.

Yep after about 50 miles of use. Its a shame you can't just swap the alloy end plates of the tube as I really don't want to drop the whole back end and fight with the exhaust at the turbo end again.
 
Of course it was the immense Torque! The top left bolt hole looked like it had been helicoiled at some point so probably weakened, who knows with 25 year old parts.
