Porsche 997 rusty, corroded tandem oil pump. Early 997s are showing signs of heavy corrosion to the engine tandem oil pump - located on the right hand rear of the engine (centre of pic). The casing corrodes badly and requires change before the rust becomes so bad as to perforate and cause catastrophe.

Completely agree but unfortunately I can only comment on the ones I have heard about or reported to me.ORIGINAL: tony1066
I think that the problem is more common than you think, it happened to my friend's 997 and the only cure is a new pump.
Which means that it could be six or seven years old. [&:]Early 997s are showing signs of heavy corrosion to the engine tandem oil pump
You'd hope that the OPC network would see this issues developing prior and go with a preventative maintenance, however it does seem that at that age many cars drop out of network- or even any maintenance program. Not all admittedly
