Tappets?

I,foolishly, with hindsight, changed my oil a few weeks ago and have now decided to do the plugs and tappets. The question is will I have to drop the oil to remove the rocker covers or will I just lose a little oil?

Sorry but have a drain pan at the ready! you will get quite a lot of oil out of the bottom covers, when the engine stands oil runs back out of the tank into the sump. That's the reson you check the oil level with the engine running and hot so it has had time to pump the oil back into the tank. hope this helps, you can still do it but it may be better to drain into a clean can and reuse if you are concerned about cost. Yeah, setting the valve clearances, using the angle method, is pretty straightforward but getting to them is easy but time consuming.I removed the exhaust, the heatshields and tinware to get to the lower rocker covers and removed the rear blower to get to the upper covers.
