I currently own a 93 targa 964 and i wouldnt change it for anything else, unless possibly a 993 or 997!!. The cars are nowadays are generaly very good after having the clutch and dual mass flywheel fixed. You will need to make sure that this has been done. Also you need to check that it has the vent kit fitted to the distributor as this caused problem eairly on, although most have this done. Targas do tend to give slight wind noise at high speed, but normally for everyday driving they should have next to no wind noise.Eairly 964 suffer from oil leaks as there were not any gaskets used between the heads (i think) and just relying on the machined face. Later ones incorparated gaskets to solve this problem. Check oil pressure when fully warm it should at least be around 1 bar and when reved it should be at 4-5 bar also check the front wishbone bushes for splits. It is a must to get a proffesional inspection done unless you really understand these cars.Full history is a must and check with the dealer that this has been carried out. There are to many people who know someone with a stamp!.
