Targa or Coupe?

The recent eviction of my SC from its garage has focused my thoughts on the possible benefits of Coupes over Targas. I actually prefer the Targa shape, and the larger back window area. However, there is a tidy 83 coupe available near me which is also proving tempting! So, from your exprience, can anyone tell me:

1. Whether wind noise is less of an issue with Coupes than Targas
2. If water leaks are less of a problem (I'm assuming they are, sun roof excepted)
3. If there is any diference in the drive. I know Targas are heavier, and less ridgid, but am I likely to notice any difference? I do track days, but I wouldn't say I was particularly skilled as a driver.

Thanks

1. Wind noise is a lot less with a coupe. The engine is the noisiest thing on mine.
2. Water leaks, what water leaks ? OK, so mine is a young '87, but none of my coupe have leaked.
3. Don't know, never drivn a Targa (just been a passenger).

Targas are more noisy than coupes and if the seals aren't properly maintained they will leak. However it's a trade off for the benefit of 'wind in the hair' driving on sunny days, you can't beat it in my opinion and I love coupes just as much. Targas are only slightly heavier.

As the 996 Targa is far more "civilised" and less "wind in the hair" than the lift-out type of roof (a bit of a cross between the Targa and Coupe), does that make it a Toupe?
