Targa Roof Front Seal

Can anyone help....Bought front Targa Roof Seal for my 82 SC but have found that always end up with a gap of quarter of an inch above drivers front quarter light window. This obviously allows wind and rain to blow through into cabin. So fed up with this seal am I, that I am going to purchase a new Seal again but this time the Original Porsche seal and not an aftermarket seal. Has anyone got any advice on fitting. Not to handy with cars but will have a go_Or does any SC'ers know any body that can fit these seals in the Deal/Kent area.

Do a dry run first and fit the seal in a warm room or on a hot day preferably. Stretch the seal to fit that is the normal practice only when you are satisfied with the fit when dry should you apply glue and make the final fit. If it is a new seal take it off clean it and use it again. Another word of caution on these Traga front seals, in the back of my mind I'm thinking I read somewhere that the design of these seals has changed and that they have to be trimmed for a perfect fit height wise, for a definitive answer ring Dave Nunn at Southbound Trimmers, he'll tell you if there is an issue over design and ask him for some fitting tips too, it might be worth a drive up there, ask him if he can do it whilst you wait.

Bones, you're correct, the front seals that are available now are designed for 964's and require careful trimming to get them to fit pre 964 models!

I have a couple of word documents that descibe what needs to be done (got them from a guy in the US) if anyone's interested.

Cheers,

Tim.

Thanks Tim, that's very helpful, not that I'm planning on doing that just now and no thanks to Porsche for making a simple job difficult!!!!!
