Targa roof noise

I am looking for a 993, either a Targa or normal coupe with sunroof. For the first time today i drove a Targa, and found the roof squeaked a lot, we were on a bumpy country road but i was still surpriced with the noise and at higer speeds the wind noise was a little noisy to, i must say it put me off the idea of a Targa. Any comments would be good to hear before i start narrowing my search even more, which is becoming painful.

Regards PHIL

Hi Phil

I recently bought a Targa, having tested both the coupe and targa. I am sure it is more noisy but I cannot say that I have heard a squeaking noise. I hear an occasional rattle and certainly more wind noise. However, I decided the ability to open up the roof made that a worthwile price to pay and liked the idea that it seems more secure than a cabriolet. I have young children who will use the back seats from time to time and felt a see through roof would provide a more enjoyable experience for them. I suppose it is horses for courses but for me, the benefits outweigh the noise.

Hope that helps

Tim

Thanks for your comments, that does help some what, the car i was looking at i think the roof needed a look at, and because of this and verious other things not so nice on the car i think the search shall go on for a Targa or Coupe.

Cheers PHIL

Hi
I owned have both a Targa and Coupe. The Targa was origianlly noisy when I first test drove it, but it was all adjusted and sorted before the purcahse and was great in the 15 months I drove it. Little more wind noise perhaps, but not much else

Thanks for the post Tim. Mine doesn't rattle, but good to know for the future.

Cheers

Talking of Targa roofs, what's the best stuff to stick the vinyl lengths of 'roof lining' back into place?

Thanks, David.

I'd like to help Mr Happy but I don't know. A friend of mine has used a spray on adhesive for the trim in his TVR so I shall try to find out what he used.

had a similiar issue about a year ago, checked with my local OPC parts dept who just said to use general adhesive, nothing special was used, so IIRC I used some Evo Stick (clear) .. worked fine
