Targa roof refurb on 1987 3.2 carrera

I am currently refurbishing the targa roof on my 1987 3.2 carrera, and I am now at the stage of putting it all together.

There are four clips inside the roof at the front, and 4 clips inside the roof at the rear. When the tension bars are in the extended position, the bars lock into the clips. The clips front and rear are slightly different and unfortunately I didn’t note which went to the front and which went to the rear. The clips are identical other than 4 of them are also fitted with a spring clip.


can someone please help in identifying which clips go to the front and which go to the rear. Perhaps the easiest way is for a targa owner to check the inside of the roof of their vehicle, with the roof in the folded position.

Figured out the clip arrangement on the inside of the targa roof, just in case anyone else has the same issue.
Clip with additional spring clip to the rear of the targa roof, as these hold the bars in the extended / open position, until the roof is locked in position when fitted. The front of the roof doesn’t need these additional clips because of the roof geometry and as it is locked onto the top of the front screen.
