targa roof refurb

Hi to everyone.
Seasons greetings and best wishes for the New Year.

I am looking to get the targa top on my 3.2 refurbished. Whilst a fairly competent DIY'er I am considering getting it done professionally and wanted to ask if anyone had their targa roof refurbished and what the end result was like?

Any feedback or advice is appreciated.

Good 2 part video on utube worth a watch i have just recovered mine from the tins up although i,m an upholsterer i found it hard work but i,m pleased with the end result. If you feel like having a go make sure everything under the top cover is in first class condition .I have seen lots of tops that have just been recovered they leave a lot to be desired. If you pm me i,ll give you some more info

Hi Paul and Bob
I am considering doing the whole thing[or having the whole roof done], as both the outer cover and the inner headlining need doing. The metal spars may need some attention and also the clips on the roof. The lateral seals need replacing and the front and rear seals possibly need re-seating. I replaced these two some 4-5 years ago, but the front one is possibly a little too proud.

Whilst I would like to 'have-a-go' there is a lot more to the job than just recovering the roof.

Mine will need re-sealing in the near future plus a new headliner.

I'm lead to believe that an '86 front windscreen/roof seal is no longer available and the later 964 is supplied. I've had some prices from the local OPC but they didn't mention that they were alternative parts.

I've also read that there is a guy in the States who has the original version, anyone used this supplier?

Hello - did you get the targa top replaced or still planning on diy? Planning on diy myself in the summer unless I have sold the car first!
