Targa Roof

Getting to grips with my new car (2002 Targa) and have a couple of questions about the roof ...

1) This morning I was showing a mate my car and the roof took ages to close; needed three attempts before it closed properly and haven't tired it since. Spoke to my dealer and he said that maybe the electric contacts were a little damp (heavy fog, cold and all electrics - and engine - were on, though car stationary). Anyone lese had a similar problem?

2) How far back is the roof meant to go? When mine is fully retracted the high level brake light is in the way re rearward vision. Is this normal as the roof surround looks as though it could go back a further 6-8 inches?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

As an aside, there's a very annoying rattle in my door. Is there a good specialist in the NW (Crewe area) who you'd recommend to strip the door?

jmk,
In answer to your queries:

1) Never had the problem - before now that is! After having read your post I had a look at my roof and it too opened and closed very slowly. taking a few attemps to close completely. Weather much as you also experienced. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

2) The sliding glass panel when fully opened still projects about 8" out from under rear panel. Open area should measure about 20" from wind defelector to front edge of sliding panel. The bulge that you refer to impinging on rear vision isn't a high level rear brake light its the motor mechanism for retaractable blind.

Anyway, enjoy the car. I love mine and can't wait for the 997 version.

Having same problem. Spoke to OPC to see if covered by warranty. OPC said no because it was proably down to stretched cables and therefore wear and tear... on a car that has covered 30000 miles!

Hi
I just bought a Targa - it's had a repair of a fault in the Targa roof by an independent at Standish called Cath Burrows. You might contact her on 01257 425514; see what she says as I've no idea but she's one of the specialists in the UK.
Cheers
