Targa Seals

A while back, I think I read that petroleum jelly works well to improve the suppleness and expansion properties on rubber seals. Is this correct and does anyone have any experience whether it is a good alternative to the rubber seal product produced by Zymol?

Fez forget Zymol they are rich enough I'm sure, buy some ordinary Vaseline put on some rubber gloves - use your bare fingers if you like but it's messy - and having removed the top smear a liberal coating onto any rubber in sight. Ideally you will have a garage to put the car in after the application, leave the doors ajar so the door seal coating doesn't end up everywhere. Apply in the sun it works the best. If you can leave overnight and then wipe off any excess , ifyou apply it thoughtfully it won't go everywhere and create a mess. If you don't have a garage just leave it in the sun for a few hours, keep an eye on the car and after 2-3 hours wipe of the excess. Apply it to the fat seals on the roof too. The seal will 'plump' up, as a bonus to water proofing the wind noise will be decreased.
Another use for Vaseline - on the car - is to de-oxidise Fuchs wheels. Smear the stuff on the painted areas leave over night and after you wipe it off next day the paint is like new.
