Hi Everyone

Can anybody recommend a bodyshop or specialist in the South Wales/Bristol area to refurb the targa roof on my 85 Carrerra.

Cheers David

I had my targa top (inner and outer) recovered by Southbound. IIRC was about £500, but that was nearly 4 years ago.
Excellent job[:)]

The outside of mine needs recovering but not the inside... any idea if it is a difficult job to do yourself?

Had mine recovered at Southbound in April. I would have originally had to wai six months to book it in but they had a cancellation. Absolute first class job. You need to leave the car there for the week as they perform all the necessary adjustments of doors and windows, etc to ensure the best fit.

I had one done by Trimmania in Reading a couple of years ago for around £250 - inside and out. Ray Northway recommended them and they did do a good job.

ORIGINAL: lesworth

I sent mine off to them in the post......

Oh, and it hardly ever leaks[:)]

I had both the outside and inside recovered, side seals and front windscreen seal replaced. The top was also taken apart and all the webbing etc replaced to ensure the front edge is extremely rigid when not folded.

Its clear that a previous owner had attempted this in the past and completely bodged both the roof and the seals. The cost was (ahem) £1200 but dont tell the wife [:)].

My Targa top refurb kit from Southbound cost £120.00 including everything about three years ago, they may be dearer now but I doubt that much more. Took me and a friend about five hours on a hot day (best done with help from the sun) and looks like a factory finish.

I also done it myself bought it off ebay for about £100 and was sent over form Germany, It was both the outer and inner covers. It looked great but I still couldn't get rid of the wind noise on the leading edge. Maybe paying the extra for a pro to do it will be worth it otherwise DIY is very cost effective.
