Hi there. Bit of help/advice. 14 year old C2, one careful owner (me), 48k miles, Autoglymed to death but have never given the engine bay any attention. Any tips as to how to bring it up to a state where it is not too embarrasing to open the engine cover? Thanks. Neville Walker.

My method is to spray the engine bay with a rinseable degreaser like Jizer. Let it soak it in for 3-4 minutes, agitating particulalrly soiled areas with a brush, then power wash the whole compartment, afterwards firing up the engine for a few minutes to dry everything off.
You may need to address individual components too by using Jizer on a small brush and/or cloth.
Most underbonnet stuff is splash-proof, but avoid concentrating water jets on electrical components.
Regards,

Clive

Hi Boris,

For a couple of years now I have been using Britemax Grime out. Its brilliant stuff if you have a look on you tube there are a few videos of it. Also know some detailer's that use it too.
Britemax - https://www.britemax-direct.co.uk/

I did my engine bay with it today and I spray it on then using a 1 inch brush work it into all the little areas and agitate the solution. I then have a little spray bottle to rinse it off and wipe over the area with a micro fibre cloth.

I use it anywhere that is a bit grubby.

Thanks for the info. I've had a look at Britemax's site - looks like a distinct possibility.

If you use Britemax you can get a few pounds off when you sign up as a new customer online or if you call them they also offer the same deal over the phone.
