Tear drop Mirror bases

I am thinking of replacing my Flag mirrors with Teardrop style ones. I understand that apart from getting ones that would have been on a 968 it is also possible to use 911 versions, although the bases need to be swapped because the door profiles are different.

Is this correct? If so anyone know what part numbers the mirror bases are that I would need to order? I have spoken to my local OPC and it went quiet on the other end of the phone...I dont think the person I spoke to was out of short trousers when the 944 was made.

Thanks

Yes, the mirrors are all the same, but you need RHD 968 bases for a RHD 944. Speak to Exeter and they will sort you out.

Sorry another question because I found another pair of mirrors.

This time they are off a LHD American import 968. I guess they would need different bases as before - LHD to RHD. But will everything else be ok about them - wiring, motors etc for my RHD S2?

Thanks again.

Yep everything else will be the same, you could try listing the LHD bases on ebay someone in mainland europe or the USA wants to fit cup mirrors to their 944.

Actually the glass will be different. The driver's side glass on a UK Porsche is a true reflection, the passenger is slightly concave giving a wider field of view with smaller objects. US mirrors will likely have either the opposite combination or both will be concave (with writing saying "object in this mirror are closer than they appear" or similar).

The driver side does have the wording. Not an issue though is it, apart from being distracting?

Oh and another thing. I could get the handles as well from the same 968. I cant think of there being any issues but have I missed something?

It wasn't the writing I was highlighting, more that in the UK we have a true reflection on the driver's side and thr US mirrors won't have that. Not a fitment isssue, but it might make a difference to you.
