Any Engineering experts out there. ...If I use a 3/8 inch drive torque wrench with a 1/2 inch converter so I can use my 1/2 inch drive sockets does this alter the calibration ??

Logic says torque is a measure of turning effect so I don't think it will matter but your views appreciated.

I am shortly going to torque up my new steering rack to the aluminium cross strut and don't want to strip any threads.

Makes no difference unless you are using a universal joint or flexy joint at an extreme angle. However, this being the internet I await the flurry of replies that will contradict me.

Maurice - thanks for your offer - I'm in the New Forest, near Brockenhurst - some way away I fear. If I get stuck I'll post again.
