Hi,

Was looking at buying a 944 a year ago but have been put off by the price for now and thought i'd start investigating the 924's; any idea where i can find the performance figures for the different 924 models?

thanks for that, i am a liitle more confused now as to which model to go for. Which is the quickest model/year to look at , should i be considering the 924S over the turbo for instance and how do they compare to the 944's?

924S is a 944 Lux in a slimline body. Nothing to do with the 944S, the 16V one, 924S is a 924 with the 2.5 8 valve Porsche engine. Slightly de-tuned, but lighter car hence pretty much equal performance. They're the later 924 models, so easier to find a good one. I call them the bargain of the 944 range, and always point people towards them if they're on a tight budget.

thanks, how do the 924 Turbo's compare with the 924S in performance then or does it all depend on year etc.. Oh and when i asked how they compare to the 944's I meant in general not the 944 S model specifcally sorry for confusion.

The 924 turbo's are very fine models, but need a lot of tlc and the turbo unit will probably need replacing every 35,000 miles depending on how you look after your car. I agree with pauljmculty and if I was you I would go for the 924S currently about 20 to 30% cheaper than a 944 with the same engine. I have had a 944S and currently use my 924S as an everyday car. You cannot go wrong. The engines are very strong units and easy to mantain. Spend about £2500 for a 924S and you'll have one in very good condition.
