Telephone Module Update (sort of)

For anyone who is having problems with the poor quality reception through the handsfree mic supplied with the telephone module.......

I spoke to customer service at Reading last week about the poor quality reception through the phone module. They said that this is something they are very aware of and so are Porsche in Germany. They are asking anyone who has experienced these phone problems to write a letter of complaint so they can put a stronger case for a fix to be developed.

Not sure how much this will help but anythings worth a try. Mail me if you need the address to send your letters.

Hi Jocky! This was the topic I launched on 8 Dec 2006: "Poor quality telephone module transmission". I was told by Helen at Porsche GB Customer Assistance (0118 930 3666) on 23 Jan 2007 that a fix was on its way. Your update is interesting as it appears there isn't a fix coming after all. My OPC has agreed to support me with an alternative device until something comes from Porsche. Who is your contact at PGB?

Don't have a specific contact at Porsche GB. I just spoke to the customer services department.

Interestingly Rob has written an update on the telephone module in 997 Register section of Porsche Post for May 2007.

I spoke to customer sevices this week, they said they were aware of the problem but did not have a fix. I've now got a case number, what ever that means.

It's amazing that they can charge £600 for something then shrug their shoulders when it does not work.

PS

My after market phone kit in my 993 works fine, so much for improved technology

Has anyone here had their phone mic moved from the steering column to the roof, adjacent to the rear view mirror, as reported by Rob? Is this a neat solution? For most of my 14 months of C2S ownership I have given up using the module I paid for and use instead an ugly hands-free device! This is my only complaint: the car is otherwise everything I expected it to be (oh, except the rim of my MF steering wheel is too thin ........ later models are thicker!)
