this question has probably been asked before, however, does anyone know if it is possible to retro fit the telephone module. my c2s has psm & the sat nav module

your help would be much appreciated

Agreed, I have it and now wish I had not wasted my money. A short shifter is better value and could save time on the journey so one does not need a 'phone [:D]

I had it fitted from new, delivered in March 2006, and I have been promised an upgrade when it's available. 17 months later and PGB still don't know when it's coming but I'm assured it's imminent!

I must be fortunate - I have had no problems with mine (2007 BY) and have used it while doing 150kph on German autobahns. I do´nt make a great deal of use of it but I would specify it again.

don't waste your time or money it is absolutely rubbish in terms of call quality in my opinion.

In two years I never got mine to work well. I gave up in the end. Anyway its a fag changing the sim over from one phone to another. Best stay with blue tooth!

Mine works fine however in 4 months and 4,500 miles AND i am always on the phone. Have only put the sim in once on a long journey as the wife insisted that if I wanted to drive to Sheffield to see some friends with her + baby in the car, must use handsfree.

Waste of money, wish I hadn't spec'd it to be honest.

Buy another sim card - costs around £5 - and set up call divert from your regular number or just give people your car sim number.

That's what I did, put a pay as you go sim in the car and set my main mobile to divert to the car when off.

Mine sometimes locks up and you have to take the sim out to get it to reboot. The quality is a bit hit and miss also - probably not worth the money but I bought used approved and it was in anyway.

thnaks for the constructive responses. it's a shame that the retro fit is so expensive especially as the key pad etc is already on the dash.

i think i will go for a parrot bluetooth kit

cheers

The Porsche telephone module is a worth while addition when speccing a new car but in reality it suffers a number of short falls. Unless you have a dedicated sim card for the car to which your calls are transferred to, the hassle of changing sim cards from your phone to the PCM unit just isn't worth it.

I would buy a Parrot blue tooth system and have it discretely installed for abour £250 and save the dosh.[:)]

Why not get a Dension gateway with ipod connectivity and now has bluetooth . Will be more than a parot but you get a whole lot more. I have a Dension on my car but already had phone module. I am pleased with the Dension but the ipod control is not nearly as good as that on my A5.

Actually, and even better is the new product called Tooki from Nav-TV. They have just released it and is a unit that connects to the PCM via MOST (as per OEM) and replicates the function of a GSM telephone however, uses Bluetooth to connect to your mobile phone instead of relying on swapping sim's all the time.

Allows you to pair with up to 4 devices too.

I like the sound of the Tooki. Forget my earlier post on the Parrot. I think the Tooki may be the answer!

Why don't Porsche buy the software and give their Customers a decent system ?

The Tooki sounds like it would do the job as it seems to tap into the functionality of the PCM module and use the on board keypad etc. I didn't like the Parrot idea as this would render those bits non-functional and i'm a 'function freak'.

Keep me posted if you find out any more.
