Temp guage in hot weather

Hi guys, have noticed that the temp seems to fluctuate in the hot weather.
Is this normal, never goes above 100, and both front fans are starting.
The car has had a new front rad on the right due to a small incident (not my fault)[]
Always sat at 90 (virtical on temp guage) before, but weather was a lot cooler then.
I am thinking maybe an air lock in the system ??

Before the summer used to sit at bang on 90

i ASKED THIS QUESTION ONLY A DAY OR 2 AGO ON ANOTHER FORUM. mINE IS USUALLY VERTICAL BUT IN THE HOT WEATHER IS UP A BIT AT WHAT i CAN (oops sorry about the caps-) as 95 ish. Never makes it up to the 3/4 line though and I was told it normalish in hot weather. I checked all fans were running and that the coolant was OK and all is good. I have given up worrying about!

Mine sits at 80 most of the time creepng to 85 after hard driving or sitting in traffic in the current hot weather.

I agree with the previous two posts - the gauge should sit at or just over 80 most of the time and never go above 85 (ish). If you are getting temps above this, then your aircon condensers / radiators are probably clogged with debris. The only way to remove this is to take off the front PU and undo the aircon condenser brackets as the majority of the cr*p builds up between the condensers and rads and is not visible from the front air intakes. The amount of leaves / cigarette ends etc. that build up in that small gap will astound you!!! You will also likely find a lot of detritus lodged in the fins of the condensers and the rads. This can be dislodged by blowing them through with compressed air (from back to front).

Doing the above should have everything running cool again.

I'm in conflict with the previous posts in that my 2000 C4 always sits vertically at 90 degrees, and does fluctuate very slightly in hot weather but never more than a few mm, to what I would estimate is around 95 degrees.

Rads are fine as I recently had the front PU off (car's only done 28k anyway).

PU = "front bumper/apron".

Not quite sure if these are the initials for the German translation perhaps...

I imagine it's short for Poly-Urethane which is what the plastic bits forming front and rear bumpers are made from.

BB_996 mine is a 2000 C4 as well and yes sits at 90 deg vertical ,and then fucuates up to 95 max never up to 100 the next line on the guage
Usually when I have been ragging it[:D].

28k that is low milage, bought mine with 46k on it in jan and thought that was low.

could it be the 3.4 units run a little hotter, or coolant system less efficient than the 3.6 ?

mine starts creeping up in heavy traffic, its a 98 c2 3.4 sits at 80 all day long, but in the heat in traffice it creeps up, not sure how far up, i usually start getting nervous and try to drive it so it cools down.

Mine's a 3.4 and sits at just over 80 (with the needle in the zero) at all times except when stuck in traffic on a hot day, when it creeps up slightly (but only very slightly).

Mine is a C4 as well and yes sits at 90 deg vertical ,and then fluctuates up to 95 never up to 100 the next line on the gauge.

And just recently had the 2 front rads replaced under warranty (different issue)
