Temperamental Interior Fan

I have had a quick search for this and can't find an answer. My interior fan only works on position 4. 1,2, and 3 occasionally work but it is sporadic at best. I have changed the resistor pack in the "air box" on the bulk head but this has not solved the problem. Before I start dismantling the switches on the dash has anyone got any other ideas? The car is an S2.

It is usually the resistor pack thats at fault with these symptoms . Is the replacement unit new or second hand ? If used was it definitely working on the previous car ? They can be quite easily cleaned to remove any oxidisation if necessary . Might be worth cleaning the connector if you haven't already done that as well . Here's a picture of mine before i cleaned it up .

Thank you for that, the replacement is from a car that worked, checked before taking out. I have cleaned all the contacts
so unless I am missing something I think I am doing everything right.
