Tempting potential trackday car...

Absolutely, but presumably quite a bit of work matching everything up and getting it to work properly.

Another alternative would be the 1990 Turbo that's for sale here on the forum (sorry if you're reading this Simon) which appears to be the right mix of spot on mechanics, but in need of a little paintwork TLC. Presumably as a track car that could be foregone in lieu of a nice rollcage and some lightweight seats. [;)]

Stick a s/h engine in it, strip it out and away you go.....[:D]

..and new suspension, etc.... easy to spend plenty on what looks almost free...[;)]

If I was building a more dedicated trackday car I wouldn't start with a 944 turbo - It's just too heavy! It's about perfect as a road/track compromise, but I'd want to be the right side of 1000kg for a track only car. I keep thinking about stripping & lightening mine, but somehow it doesn't seem a sensible idea.

Early cars on Fuchs look great though

Go on, you know you want to [;)] (although I have to add yours is really too nice to butcher).

If my finances ever recover I rather fancy going to town on a 924 shell and adding one of Simon's 3.2L's to give it some poke [:D] 400+bhp per tonne =:ROFLMAO:

Oi stay away and finish the one you've already got [:D]

I was in Simons workshop on Thursday when I went down to see LIL. Mmmmm it's a little treasure trove in there, with racks and racks of 944 engines, blocks, heads all ready to be turned into something rather scarey when needed.

I also saw his freshly painted Guards Red bodyshell with a clinically clean engine bay, everything replated to look like factory new, just waiting for an engine to be dropped into it. Standing next to it was his road car with one of his engines and ball bearing Turbos which he had just had Dyno'd the day before at something like 370bhp [8D] This was from a 2.5 STILL ON THE ORIGINAL AFM []

If I had the money, that Autofarm car would be very tempting for a full on track car with a GRP widebody kit, 3.2 engine, KW suspension, and rollcage. Target weight 1100kg and 500bhp/ftlbs for under £20k. Almost sounds like a bargain :ROFLMAO:

The Fuchs, though gorgeous, would be about 4" too narrow though

I'll have to do something to keep up with you when the s/c is finished [:D] - I like the 924 idea, I'd be all over lali's 968 engined one if it was a tad cheaper

I was tempted when a mate was selling Ben's old red 944 - dirt cheap with a 250 engine & brakes. I couldn't quite seem myself selling two 44 turbos to my wife though [;)]

Yes, that's my problem too.....[:D]

Do like those fuchs though and with glass fibre wings and lexen windows, should be easy to get it down to 1100kg?....[;)]
