Tension Spring in 996 Hood

hi
the little spring that tensions the hood of my 996 c4 2000 has failed ie it tensions the tapes between the driver and passenger doors so the hood fits in the window grooves. The Porsche main dealer in Galsgow couldn't find a part number for it and said it must be only sold with the complete hood? I find that difficult to believe - £2k new hood for a £5 spring replacement little spring. Can't believe this hasn't been a problem for many owners
Anyone know where I can source a new or even old replacement part?

Sandy!!

Can you identify it in the attached?

Hi afraid not - I went through the diagrams with the Porsche staff in the Glasgow dealership. It should show on page 23 but doesn't seem to be. Here is a pic of the same area of a boxster hood inside. The spring hooks between the two tapers to give the right tension to guide the sides into their slots. No 7 on that page seems to be more tensioning the sides
