Tequipment for the 987S

Leafing through my Chrisphorus this month, I came across some new panels for my 987S on page 56, a nice rear diffuser and front lip spoiler.

Anyone else have these fitted yet ?

Can't yet get a price from my OPC (nothing new there then).... [8|]

Price confirmed (supply only) is a whopping £2484 - that is OPC price and is for the whole aerokit (front lip spoiler, rear diffuser & rear wing).

You cannot buy them seperately (so the OPC says).

Group buy anyone (only joking) []

The OPC is correct as Porsche will not sell individual items from the Aerokit.

Neither can the trade......

which is just plain stooopid, what happens when said Aerokit is purchased and fitted, and you get hit from behind which only requires the rear diffuser to be replaced - you gotta buy the whole kit again !!!

Surely not.

Something fishy going on here.

Of course you can get the items seperately in the case of a claim - but Porsche will not sell them to you seperately initially, as the whole aero-balance of the car would be upset if you only fitted the items at one end.

You can't buy Aerokit components as individual items for safety reasons. I'm sure that damaged components can be replaced as per any other item on the car.

JCB..

Reading Porsche promo on the areokit, it does not say that it gives any increase in performance/stability etc etc (no mention as to the rear wing though) only to it's appearance.

Christophorus says ''The spoiler lips of the SportDesign Package visually ''push'' the Boxster, and thus provide an even more dynamic appearance''

and ''the automatical rear wing and the rear body with diffuser styling''

however and in all fairness, the artical does briefly mention ''the areodynaics have been refined, leading to reduced lift values''....

All abit airy fairy and wooly if you ask me.....

Still not worth £2484 + painting and fitting.

I notice that in the advert they price the 19" Carrera wheels at £3,100 - when ordering new from the factory they're £1,100...

Yes, but I think you may be forgetting that the £1,100 is the difference in price of the standard wheels to the 19" Carrera's [;)]

Given that the standard set up is designed to work at speeds in excess of 150 MPH there isn't much more any further aerodynamic extras can do but reduce axle lift a little further.

Given these prices, does anyone actually have any kit like this on their car (obviously not the current stuff being debated here).

Do we have any lotto winners amongst us ?

James,

There is an image of the front spoiler (in fact it'sonly the bottom lip) on the Porsche website under 'Boxster Tequipment' but it's not very detailed.
The rear does look quite good.

Personally I think that Porsche are up their backside by not offering the kit seperately (my approved Porsche repair centre enquired this morning) to the trade.
Maybe Porsche are trying to maintain the 987's visual perception by not selling the kit bit by bit - who knows !

Either way, I will not be buying the kit now, simple reason as it's too much for some styling kit.
The factory fitted front and rear bumpers only cost about £350 each, unpainted and not fitted.
Someones making money.

Would I buy one if I had the money - no
Would I buy an ex demo with the kit fitted at extra cost - no
Would I buy an ex-demo with kit fitted at low nominal cost - then yes, it will stand apart and I will not lose bucketloads come resale/trade in time.
