Terraclean

Has anyone had their Porsche Terracleaned before? They say it works for all types just wondered if anyone has had it done and noticed any difference.

Don't know anything about Terraclean other than I've seen on the web, but BG44K seems to draw plaudits from 996 and other type 911 Porsche owners on other forums - only £20 notes as well - I'm thinking of giving it a go - unless of course anyone thinks its a really bad idea?.

Interestingly although Porsche says never use fuel additives, apparently they do now actually sell one Keropur - at least in the USA it seems http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/35040-keropur-porsche-brand-fuel-additive/

Otherwise, I'll let you know how I get on.

...indeed, I was initially looking at Redex, which apparently should be fine to clear the injectors, but the BG44K is advised to be a bit better at clearing carbon deposits from inside the cylinders as well - who knows? [:D].

For £20 I'm on board with the experiment!

Applied the BG44K about a week ago - noticed cleaner start, smoother idling, and i'd say perhaps a 1.5 mpg increase round town - difficult to say if performance has increased, but I just recently had new exhaust and hi flow cats.

I think overall I'm left with the impression of a positive difference, but nothing earth shattering.

I had the Terraclean treatment done locally on my 993 cab a few months back. The car had only 50K miles on the clock and had hardly moved in 3 years. It seemed to run well but I didn't know whether the power was what i should expect, as I'd previously had a 968CS. Anyway, it was immediately apparent that it was running better and within 20-30 miles it was as though it had taken a banned substance - pulling much more strongly and smoothly. Well worth the money, in my view. I posted a thread about it in the Technical Articles/Mechanicals/Engine mechanical section in June.

Dougie, I think I put all the details in the earlier thread but it's Kevin Haynes he should speak to at Haynes Vehicle Services, Thankerton, near Biggar. He made up a connector for the 993 cab in no time - see the other thread. Not cheap, and price determined by engine size, but it transformed the cab. Was thinking about having it done to the GT3 but it's fast enough for me right now! Give me a ring if you want more details.
