Terracotta

Been looking for the right car now for about 3 months, Decided to go for as later model as possible on my budget that must have an excellent history.
Found a 2005 Carrera 4 in seal Grey 10k miles and one owner, great car.
The only thing is it has terracotta interior [&:]

I suppose its a love it or hate it thing ?

Anyone out there with Terracotta ? thoughts on how you live with it please.

Hi Brian.

If you don't give a toss about any future resale value then go for it! I've got Graphite Grey full leather in my 996 and pretty much everyone seems to turn their noses up at it! I don't agree with it but it seems that it has to black leather and nothing else! BLACK, I tell you!!!!

With the terracotta you're only going to appeal to a select few and if you trade it in to an OPC they'll probably say something like; "Well, Brian we've come to a figure of £38,000 for your car against the one that you want. It would've been £48,000 if it had black leather!"[;)]

I think Terracotta looks terrific, especially on the Boxster and Carrera GT. And, it works well with Seal Grey.

Also like the Cocoa with silvers. It's a personal thing and if you like it, so will someone else.

There were problems with the 996, with Porsche over-doing the expanse of coloured interiors - dash, carpets, seats, doors, centre console, vents, steering wheel....

Terracotta and Seal Grey is a great combo - my last boxter was the very same and I loved it.

Trade in they will always get you -= Oh sir black interiors are so common we just can't shift them....any excuse to lower the price

Your a long time dead and if you use th car as intended rather than have it as a grage queen its going to be painful at trade in time. Get over it and enjoy the car[:D][:D][:D]

depends on the price i guess??if its a low mileage 997 c4 that you will keep for a while and the price is good then it wont matter provided YOU like the colour.personally i like it[:D]

Don't think I would find a better history ! All the "S"'s in this price bracket have had multi owners and I would rather have the history as I could always add performance extras if so required.
So its just the interior thats the sticking point. For every + I can find a - and its obviously not a popular colour as the dealer has had the vehicle in stock since about April this year which is strange for such a good car.

I also noticed that its a more refined drive than the Boxster 3.2 S I owned, You don't get that kick in the back when you put your foot down and no "roar" when the rev's get towards the red line.

Probably just me not use to the 911 drive.

Dont have a problem with colour itself its the EVERYTHING the exact same colour that gets me whether its black grey blue brown red whatever A slight contrast somewhere would make difference to these interiors

Why not be bolshie and try and bargain the next more expensive seal grey one down to the price of this one or use the slightly more expensive one in hatfield as a tool to get a better deal on the one with Terracota as you are "unsure of colour of interior on future resale values" - especially in the current climate if they can see a sale beckoningor failing who knows you may get lucky and get a newer car for the same price?

You can but try be brave they can only say no its a buyers market out there....

Doubt its been there since April - OPCs have a strict 90 stock policy. After 90 days they go to a Porsche OPC only auction where they can buy stock off each other, or move it to another branch within the same dealer group.

I suppose it could have moved twice within the dealer group but with falling prices they would have lost any margin in the car long ago.

Seal and Terra is a gret combo - think it looks great every time i see one. If you like it go for it. Black might be better for resale but if you don't particularly like the interior then whats the point.

The dealer is not part of a group being family owned and I have actually seen it at the garage in April when I had the Boxster serviced.
So I keep asking myself if its such a good car why has it not be sold?
I wouldn't say a like the Terracotta but I don't mind it either. Black would be too dark for my two young children in the back making it appear enclosed, Grey makes it look too cold, so its nice and bright and "warm" looking.
So whats stopping me ?
Would prefer a C2S or a C2 or even a C4S but getting those with a service history like this one with one "very careful" owner from new is like finding hens teeth.
Think I will hold out a little longer I'm in no rush and its not as if its going to go tomorrow !
Times may get worst before they get better its all about timing !

There was probably a £12k mark up from their trade in price back in April - they will have spent £2k prepping it and warranty cover. ITs lost about £1500 a month in that time (albeit not in the ri sticker price). they will probably do a deal to move it at somethign close to their cost price. Make them a silly offer.

A friend of mine bought a used Boxster 550 anniversary on the 89th day it was for sale in the OPC, the OPC made £48 on the car after preppingm, extra part ex allowance, service, warranty etc. They still demed it better than letting it go to the Porsche OPC auction.
