Test relay in fuse box

Can someone enlighten me as to the operation of the 'Test relay' in the fuse box? i'm gradually getting through the numerous electrical gremlins in my car BTW I've now sorted the Odometer which was a hugely rewarding exercise. I've no fan motor operation from the dash switch so I guess the relevant fuse and relay is the obvious way to start? Also does the under bonnet lamp only work with the lights on?
Spent a pleasant breakfast meet at Prescott yesterday.. with Gloucester region, lovely morning, no cars revving, no exhaust fumes .... only one other 944 there!

IMSC for testing blade fuses i'm gradually getting through the numerous electrical gremlins in my car BTW I've now sorted the Odometer which was a hugely rewarding exercise. Good starting point but also worth checking & cleaning the large resistor unit that sits on top of the blower motors under the flimsy plastic cover bit under the windscreeen. Might also be the dash switch ? Also does the under bonnet lamp only work with the lights on? Yes as in typical German logical fashion, you will only need the under bonnet light when its dark....
