Do you have CDs in the cartridge? Have you filled the slots in the right order? I got the same error when I filled slots 4, 5 and 6 instead of 1, 2 and 3.
 
Yup all of the 6 CD slots in the cartridge are filled and are the right way round. I haven't touched them since it stopped working... Any other ideas?
 
Given the cart still moves, its not a cable - unless there are two cables and only one has fallen out. Do you get a different message if the cart is left out completely? That would (ok, might) establish that its correctly communicating with the head unit.
 
if you ever get the fault again pres 148 whilst switched on and this will reboot your pcm system..
