i'll have to put it in the working 951 at some point and see if it works (especially if folk are prepared to pay a lot of money for them! - I can buy something useful for the car then lol)
1st dibs if you decide to give it away for free to help another 951 owner out []
Just an idea ...

can anyone advise how to test the digital clock when out of the car?
can I pass 12v through it? if so which terminals do I use?
Cheers
Matt
For the 928 admittedly but I bought a digi-clock from the 'bay, just before the 928 was written off, and put the battery charger across the terminals, so it can be done. My thoughts are as follows.
Any terminals marked 15 are for supply from ignition, terminals marked 30 are for unswitched supply from the battery and earth terminals are 31. Connect 31 to negative, and put a supply on either 30 or 15, which ever you have on the back of the clock, having never seen one myself. I am thinking that there will be at least one other terminal, which controls bright or dim display using an input derived from the lighting circuit, which will probably just require the application of 12v to change the brightness.
( unless this all pans out where upon I will award myself a further two.)
