Textar Brake Pads

Anyone used the Textar brand brake pads and if so how did they find them ? I see Maurice wrote a bit in the Tech Articles that these are the same as the Genuine Porsche product. My OPC advises that his trade price is around £85 (£106 retail) with Independants selling them for around £45 mark so how can the Indie's supply them so cheap?

I have just bought new Genuine Porsche discs so need to get new pads.

Are there any other brands that anyone can recommend for normal road use ?

Andy,

I have Textars installed and they are fine. I heard that they supply the OEM pads with the only difference being the box they come in and the price!

They are 100% the same as the Genuine pads (ive bought genuine opened the box and the pads say Textar on the back).
They work very well, even on trackdays they are acceptable.

i use use Textar pads and Zimmerman disks, all purchased from German Swedish French (GSF)
They work very well. Only issue with the disks is that the hubs rust. Well worth painting them first as per OEM.

Price is very good.

I use textar pads and sebro disk combo packs from Design 911. Have for the 944, 911 and the Boxster.

I think that Textar/Sebro is the OEM pack. When I changed my Brembo (Porsche) pads on my 996 and replaced them with Textar ones I found they were identical apart from labelling:

They all have Textar 4045 at the top and the same letters/numbers at the bottom.

I bought Textar for the 964-identical to OEM fron Eurocarparts-no problems-they also supply discs, wear indicators, rear handbrake shoes.

I spoke to a man at Sebro in Germany today. He confirmed that the Sebro discs were NOT manufactured for Porsche to use as OE but only for aftermarket fitment.

So OE fitment are not Zimmerman, nor Sebro. Next call is to ATE.

I will get there though a process of elimination.
