Ok well i work for the local paper and most newspapers aross the world say you should have a NCTJ Qualification which is( National council for Teaching of Journalism) which comprises of 5 exams Law, Photographic Knowedge, Newspaper Practice and Caption writing when these four are done you go on to a final exam for which you have to produce a log book of your work a portfolio and three weeks pre to the exam they send you a topic of which you have to Produce a double page spread taking pictures and producing 200 words. you then had that in on the final exam which is a practical Exam yes where your taken to a situation and you have to Get a snatch Picture (A Subject is set up for you) and then you have to do a double page spread again Producing 4 photos to a template of which is given to you on the day allowing for spaces for over writing and adverts etc you then also have to interview the model your given (Of Which they have a script) and you have to get the important info out of them and then write 100 word story. bareing in mind this is done in a college with not many good back grounds, your limited to one prop and your limited to shots 72 for the whole morning and all has to be typed up on the computer and handed in with Examiners watching you all the time. also i forgot to mention there are up to 18 people doing this at the same time. the revising bit is for the right questions to ask and Style all papers run on a different style system and you have to make sure you know the NCTJ Style before going to the exam, dose this fill you in at all?
