Many thanks for organising this Helen, it was a great, if damp, afternoon. Sorry we didn't get to see you before you went - we were probably in the queue!

Laura

[:D]yes these pugs were quite impressive even in the wet. me things those lads knew that track very well. which helps.

we thought there were about 12 too many cars there. so the wait between gos was just a little too long. i would prefer to pay a little more and have more go on track.

what do you think?

Many Thanks to Ian for driving me around the track in his yellow peril. he didn't have to take the scenic route just to impress me [;)][:D][:D]

was impressed he didn't swear once

Yes, we had the same discussion. Around 20 would be ideal for a half day. Would that still happen for ÂŁ50 or so ?

I thought the Club Audi guys were pretty OK, seeing we took over most of their day!

Did anybody collect all those (unofficial [;)]) times ?

cheers, Maurice [:D]
yes and they(the unofficial times [;)]) are going to be posted out to eveyone who took part. by Club Audi

[][]

I thought it was a rather deft piece of parking myself. At least we ended up pointing up a bank and could reverse back onto the track without getting stuck in the mud.

The day was great fun. I agree 20 would be a much better number of cars.

I had two runs in the dry and both were 104 I believe. Best in the wet was about 110. To put that in perspective Charles and his co-driver were both doing about 58/59 in the dry (wow). The next best from any driver (Porsche or Audi) was about 102 I think.

Ian.

PS Laura I have sent you a pm to get Charles' co-drivers contact number.

Yes, thanks Helen, this was a good afternoon and thanks to Maurice for piloting me around so well. I think Maurices best time in the dry was 1:01 and in the wet was 1:06 with plenty of sideways shenanigans

Later on there were only about 15 cars left and that worked very well. As soon as you finished your run the back of the queue was level with the portaloos so it was almost no time at all before you were back out again.

I'd certainly go for 20 cars at ÂŁ45 and happily spend an hour manning the gate or stopwatch

Yes the lack of dry runs curtailed things as far as trying to get a decent time. However the rain didn't half make it interesting. It also provided the comic moment of the day when two cars plus a Discovery got stuck in the mud on the access road. The sight of the Discovery being towed out by an old Audi was priceless.

A nice warm day later in the summer would be ideal for us all to do it again.

Surely Oliver had us for toast ?? My car did not like grabbing third on the straight ... distinctly fluffy ! Plugs might be overdue at 18 months ... [] or too long idling in the queue ... [:'(]

cheers, Maurice [:D]

According to the marshall's sheet we made three runs in the dry, all at 1:05. He was complimentary about the consistency - then was bl**dy amazed when I told him two drivers were sharing the car!!!

Thinking back, I take my hat off to Glenn though. He did the second and fourth runs, the fourth in the soaking wet which was real fun! His dry run was a 1:05, in a strange car that didn't belong to him and with me in the passenger seat. Thinking he could make the turn off the straight without needing third, he held second and hit the limiter. There wasn't time to get third and back to second, so he had to lift. Otherwise, he'd have put in a storming time, (and thrashed me in my own car [][;)]).

In all, I think the event was fantastic and a Porsche only event would be brilliant. I'm wondering if we could have an event that's self regulating, hence removing the need for full-time marshalls. There's unavoidable waiting time involved, so if we took it in turns to marshall whilst waiting for our run, surely we could run it on our own and wouldn't need to have people giving up their time to marshall and not get a drive? Might not be possible, but it's an idea.

It also proved two things:

There's a definite art to short circuit sprinting - one that I perhaps didn't have on the day, but that I'll really enjoy getting!!!

We were hurling a car with 182,000 on the clock around that track and it didn't miss a beat. Seen is it's never had more than clutches and routine servicing, 993's rule!!!! [:D][:D][:D]

Regards

Thanks for Saturday Helen, it was great to experience a sprint track.

Only managed two runs before I had to scoot off, wish I could have stayed for the day and see the wet. I may have been able to see the benifits of 4wd. But then again, seeing as I completely stuffed the first corner on every fast run (by thinking the car would stop on a dime at 90mph)prob. not.

Thanks

Rob

That's cheerfull news for a Monday morning! I'll get the 993 on a diet to lose some weight....[:D] Just be sure we don't get any infiltrators of the Pug 205 variety!

regards

hi, not to sure about that one, I for sure had my 911 insured while on the sprint(I was the 911 that span after the heavens opened)part of the requirememts that it had to be MSA marshalled for insurance cover to be maintained.
