I am guessing that Griegs Porschaforum has gone !

Indeed it has, more's the pity, as at it's best it was something quite unique.

I'm on lots of forums, but inevitably they are all subject based, and woe betide you if you wander off topic, as some jobsworth will pop up to hector you. The real joy of Porschaforum was "there is no topic" which realised there was more to life than just discussing lap times or camshafts, and encouraged some wonderfully silly and free-form interplay. A proper adults playground, and in many ways it was years ahead of its time as a social networking site. Facebook isn't half as good. I will really miss it.

R.I.P. Porschaforum. [:(]

Nice synopsis John.

From my viewpoint, it eventually became too political. I personally was incredibly enthusiastic about the forum and that enthusiasm brought both good and bad things with it. Apologies to any 'normal' people I might have offended whilst having a go at the twunts.

It was heading in a markedly less fun direction in my opinion and I couldn't be bothered to try and stop it again. So I gave up posting.

In it's heyday it was a riot. Good Friendships were established that continue to this day through mutual effort and genuine care for each other. We also found out about those who were so far up themselves they could see their own back teeth up ahead.

There are days/evenings that I really do miss it as it was initially.

Keep in touch Folks.

I have been on-line now since 1996, and a regular forum user for what is now an astonishing 13 years. In that time I have noted a phenomenon with forums, in that they are essentially organic life forms. Someone plants a seed, it flourishes and grows, reaches a level of maturity where it often spins off new forums, and then withers and dies, sometimes with a spectacular implosion. I have been thro several generations of forums now, and they all go the same way. Along the way though I have made friends all over the globe, I have had people send me bits for my cars from the USA, I was invited to tour Australia by motorbike, and I even have friends now in Glasgow!

PF may have died, but the spirit lives on. [:D]

PS ... Hi Ali, got two working legs yet? [;)]

Hi John,

Yep 2 working legs however the knee still feels a bit odd most days. Probs just fluid.

Bought mesel' a good new Mountain Bike and that's helping the recuperation a lot. Driving Dougie does the same as the clutch is a good workout!

See you soon for that bite of lunch I hope. Hope all good with you in these difficult times.

This was the first forum I ever joined, I had not heard of forums, up until I joined the PCGB. Elliot kindly pointed me in the direction of boxa.net where I met some good friends. That changed which is when Greig made porschaforum. I loved it there, absolutely. Made some wonderful friends, as we all did and yes, I miss those fun days, of posting and getting a reply within about two seconds [:D]

Remember the Portpatrick outing? Oh boy I swore after that I would never drive with you all again [:)] That was fun!!

Thanks to all for the good memories[:D]

The Queen sill reigns but not there any more [;)]

Glad to hear that your legs are more or less back to normal Ali.

I bought a mountain bike eight weeks ago, I do approx 22 miles a day on it and love every moment of it. I am getting a road bike for my birthday, I am completely hooked on cycling[:D]

When you arrange that lunch, could you include me please?[;)]

xx

Hiya Janey-poo,

Yes I've been following your posts and really admire your absolute enthusiasm for cycling. It brings a fantastic sense of freedom doesn't it?

I'll be in touch on the lunch. It's a deffo. [:D]

it was good while it lasted, but its time had passed - thanks all for all you contributed.

And yes - well done Jane, finding something like that which you like is a big bonus to your fitness - just be careful oot there on the wet roads, my father-in-law was a keen cyclist until a muppet in a mondeo nearly sent him to his maker [&:]

sad, but I feel the forum had run it's course. I want to thank Grieg for all his work over the years, and his cash for funding it. I got p1ssed off lately with the lack of postings every time I logged on and found nothing had changed. Maybe I should have made more of an effort and now wish I had.
I orginally joined after Boxanet became full of ar$eholes and found the forum to be a fun and relaxed place to be. I have made many good friends via the forum, who I would never have met if it was'nt there in the first place and will be thankfull for that.
I hope you all are well and yes John I'm still a wee bit mad

Saw your old Boxster tonight ,now in the hands of Mike Nesbitt still looks good .
