Just like to thank the guys above for helping me sort out the handling on the 944.

Having bought the car and fitted my spare 17" wheels to it the handling has been truly diabolical.

From the information I received here I've probably saved a lot of money and time trying to get to the bottom of it.

Some greaty advice meant I added some 5mm shims and changed the front tyres to Dunlops (and got some Toyo spares at the same time).

WOW! Car is transformed! No wandering, tramlining or any other weird lane jumping moments! Handles like a Porsche should.

So if I can share any advice with members this is it.....

DO NOT BUY PIRRELLI PZERO ASSIMETRICS!!!!
THESE CARS HATE THEM!!

Thanks again guys.

Not long before I bought my 944 the previous owner had had a similar problem. Lazer wheel alignment help but a new set of tyres seemed to finally do the trick. Look like these cars are very sensitive to tyres.................that why we love them !!

Cool - looks like he fell for that one, can I buy your old tyres for a fiver each? [:D]

Seriously though I couldn't believe how awful our S2 felt when I switched to a spare set of Boxster wheels last year that had Pzero Assim's on. It was only recently when I changed them that all was well again

Funny, because they are WONDERFUL on Boxsters!

If they are 17" I raise Pauls bid x2 [:D]

They work well with 993's also.

I know what you mean though... 944's do not seem to work well with them.

I am a bit of a Toyo T1R fan though.

Ok then, 50 notes and someone can have the Pirelli's - they are pretty much new - must have 5-6mm on them.

It will cover the cost of their replacements....nearly.[&o]

My 964 had Bogster 17's on it with the OE Pirelli Assymetricos on when I bought it. They made a weird "poing" noise over expansion joints and cats eyes. The Contis I now have on my Cup 1's don't do that.

My old Bridgestone O2`s did exactly that too, how strange.............

my current Falkens dont..............
