I will put out an informal invitation to visit us for 924/944/968 owners in surrounding regions. Maybe a small concourse event ??

You see how much you need our help. 944 owners like to drive their cars, not polish them [:)] We do like a good day out though, so I'm looking forward to seeing your new establishment. As long as I don't have to polish my car - well the outside at least.
 
This is just a thank you post to the guys who helped out with info when my gearbox went pop (Peter Empson). Car was all back up and running when two days later a big whole appeared in the side wall of my new Goodyear F1. Any way another £120 later the cars back up and running again, but wheel bearing doesn't sound good. I am used to driving old cars but so far I have covered 200 miles in 4 weeks and its cost me £250.

It's not like it was the cheapest car about, I think I paid about top money for a Lux. I still have a list of to do's.

New stereo.
Front spoiler needs a small repair.
A back box that doesn't deafen me.
Sort a new indicator switch out.
New trim panel above glove box.
Etc etc etc.
 
Lets be fair - you can't start a cost-per-mile on only 200 miles!

And a new stereo isn't really an essential running cost.....[&:]

Look at it another way. Buy a new Vectra and run it for four weeks. It will cost you a damn sight more than £250.

I've always looked at VJ as a long-term project. 10 years, in fact. On that basis, at around 5000 miles per year Porsche ownership is actually pretty cheap.

That's unless you start fiddling with things, John! [;)]




 
I think we all have the must do lists but hey this is all of the fun of owning a 944 and as Paul says...look at what you could be unfortunate to drive for the money[&:]

You shouldn't be measuring £/mile but [:D]/mile. It's similar to the glass is half empty vs. glass is half full scenario!
 
I seem to get my list down to a more managable size then look for goodies/improved replacement parts that escalate my list again[8|]
 
Hey if you seen the disco flashing thing that should be more at home in a Citroen Paxo that Sony call a car stereo, you would understand how much of a essential it is to get it changed. Don't get be started on the bits I would like.
 
But to-do lists are all part of the fun of an older car! I really can't imagine anything much more dull than a new car which always starts and never needs anything doing to it. Older car = more on the things-to-do list, lower depreciation and HUGELY higher [:D]/mile rate.

My list?

Fit new rear tyres (this afternoon)
Fit new pad wear sensor to N/S/R
Diagnose annoying clunk in rear suspension
Change front bushes
Change oil filter to (hopefully) cure tappy tappet - if not, flush with flushing oil/ATF and see if that helps
Rewire alarm so that it will close the windows and sunroof remotely
Connect stereo to illumination wire in wiring loom so it dims when the headlights are on
Clean and hoover ...

There's probably more, but that'll do for now!
