Thatcham 1 aftermarket immobiliser

Hi,

I've got a German-spec 996 which I bought right from the factory 5 years ago and I'm currently considering to register it in the UK.
Having talked to a few insurance companies, the main issues seem to be the wrong headlights and the immobiliser/alarm system not being certified to "Thatcham 1" standard.
Fitting other headlights is obviously not a problem, but has anybody experience with fitting an aftermarket "Thatcham 1"-approved device? In particular I'd be interested to know
- which brands are recommend and
- which suppliers have experience with fitting them into Porsches.

I've spoken to a few guys in the factory and at Porsche UK. None of them liked the idea much, because the aftermarket immobiliser is fitted on top of the existing Porsche system, which apparently sometimes results in the two devices deadlocking each other.

Thanks for your help,

Uwe

My experience with my MY02:
1: Headlights are switchable, check with your OPC
2: OPC gave me a certificate that the factory fitted device was a Thatcham I
3: Install a tracking device
Cheers

Not sure the German alarm is Thatcham 1. The C16 spec cars have a different system with an independent battery and siren apart from the regular one if I remember correctly. Certainly worth checking though.
