That's what i'd call A LOT of filler !!

By "finish off" do you mean you're restoring this one? [:D][:D]

Actually remarkably little rust considering the repair it's obviously sort of had!

Probably needed a couple of pounds more pressure in the tyre to keep it level!
Annoying thing it that the metal is still there, so panel beating could have saved a lot of filler.

First posting for two months Axl, thought you had been locked up or something![:)]

Cheers,

Oh dear - poor thing on it's back!

Reminds me of a dead cockroach, somehow. Not much left of the legs to wave either ...

Oli.

Been spending a lot of time on another site lately..ebay to be exact..as my landlord decided to sell the house i'm renting and i don't really have any savings i've been listing my a**e off to come up with a deposit..i've only got my Sapphire Metallic(which is advertised on Pistonheads at the moment) and Alpine White left..and i've pretty much sold all the parts i had..(with a little help from German Sports Car Spares in Essex who bought the whole lot off me..)

About the filler..its not just that back wing - the car is like that all the way around..even the whole roof..i measured the thickest bit i've banged out so far - just over 12mm,8 layers and over 100g..been painted at some point and then filled again..i think they ran out of filler at some point as well - while his mate went to get another barrel he had to use fibleglass instead..

I drove this car back from Chesterfield last fall when i bought it and it felt kinda slow..it must have been all that extra weight..

It looks like some of the rotten areas were grinded off and "replacement" bits and plates of steel welded on..[:'(]

I have decided not to restore any for a while..i'll just wait for another 2 years so i can afford to insure a Turbo or S2(slight difference between £200 or £2000..[])

Didn't have a choice there..had to get gbox and torque tube and rear axle off but during the "repair/restore" they also managed to weld some of the bolts and nuts in a very solid position..

Just give it a blow-over re-spray and shift it on. No-one would be able to tell...........

One of them "in need of little tlc but overall in good condition" from ebay..i'm not gonna deny it - i am breaking 944s for spares just to keep my own on the road as my day job can't afford that(at least not to keep it in condition i'm willing to drive it)..so i pretty much knew what to expect paying £500 for a 944..

Thats sad- it looks more like a red skip than a Porsche 944. How did it get in that state?[:(]

I bet there's a lot of people out there(including the previous owner of the one before him) who can do it just like that..
Fortunately i'm not one of them - didn't even have the heart to put my Sapphire Metallic on sale before water pump were sorted..it were only a really slight leak but it's gone now and this car will spend at least another decade on road(not just because of the water pump though)..and that's what matters to me..
