The AV8 to Tintern Drive. Sunday 5th August

This is a drive that we want to make as an annual event and one that we have not done before. Rather than go by ourselves to check it out and make notes we thought we would put it on the forum for others to come and join us.

We will be meeting at the AV8 Restaurant Kemble from 09.30 am and leaving at 11.00
http://www.av8-cotswoldairport.co.uk/Av8.html

The route will be a scenic one crossing the Severn at Gloucester and heading over to Symonds Yat to stop for lunch. Bring a picnic.
Then it will be a drive down the Wye Valley to Tintern for coffee, cake and a final chat before heading back to England across the old Severn Bridge to make our way home.

The route from Kemble to the Severn Bridge is about 65 miles.

Yep, Il bring my air cooled Ice cream van too, Julie happy to hang out the side window serving (if any left!!)

Sounds like a good day, hope the weather improves, see you all then.

Hi Stuart and Elaine, sounds great - Pam and I would love to join you, especially if you can keep some of this glorious weather! See you at AV8, all the best, John

Hi all,

Cheers for a good day out, good company & nice drive - laugh. Fair play to the Icecream man Les for sorting out all the directions to different locations & Stu / Elaine for organising it. Nice to see John & Pam also.

Hopefully many more days out to come with afew more members out next time!!!!! Least it rained at all the right times when driving..

Roll on the next day out.

Stuart / Julie

Thanks to Stuart and Elaine for organising the day and to Les for being such a considerate convoy leader, especially in some horrible conditions early on! Great to visit some new places and we'll definitely re-visit Symonds Yat (although probably by driving to the car park at the bottom of hill [;)])

Thanks for a lovely day out and hope to see you all again soon, all the best, John and Pam

Technical problems with the kitchen at AV8 meant that we could only have Bacon Rolls to start the day off (toast for Elaine).
After a good natter we headed out on the first leg of our run to Symonds Yat. We parked at the top off the rock and enjoyed some spectacular scenery then went on a hill climb down to the river.
After a wander around and some refreshments (ice cream for some) it was back up the hill climb for a picnic and a rest.

A short but beautiful run along the Wye Valley took us to Tintern Abbey where we stopped for a cream tea and a reflection of the day.

Stuart and Les, I thought you were joking about the ice cream van!!!!!
