In a couple of recent posts, I've received some excellent advice on the choice of tyres for my C4.
My nearside rear was showing uneven wear with the inside quarter near the limit while the outside still had good tread. This may have been due in part to a slow valve leak which meant it needed topping up every 2 weeks, and may have led to some under pressure driving.
Recently, there has also been a little shaking when driving quite fast, so I suspected the front or rear wheel balance may have been off- some very large potholes around here in Essex don't help!
Anyway, I decided to go for Contis again and at the same time have a full geo adjustment. Paul Roughan at PSR Automotive in Bishops Stortford quoted a good price for the tyres and the geo adjustment, and also offered to collect and return the car to my office.
This was on Monday, and after some mixed driving Monday evening and yesterday (country lanes, main roads and fast dual carriageways) I have to say the difference is huge.
Although Paul said that none of the individual tolerances was far out, most were into the 'red' zone on the geo computer by a small margin, and the combined effects were cumulative. They are now all 'green' and with the new rears the car has been transformed!
All in it was £635 and it was money well spent!
