THE BEST OPCs

I was all set to put down the deposit for a 997 build a couple of months back, but a sudden family illness took my attention elsewhere.

We're back on track now, but before I make the deposit, i'd really appreciate first hand experience of the OPCs that i'm within travelling distance of, particularly with regards to after-sales service.

I live near Hereford, but my girlfriend is up in Shrewsbury & i'm up & down the A49 every weekend.

I was originally going to go with Cardiff (Ian Peters) or Chester (Ian somebody), but i'd really welcome all your comments; the good and the bad, on the level of service received at any OPCs within my range, eg. those two, Cheshire, Birmingham, Bristol, etc.

Many thanks everyone.

I've used Lovetts/Porsche Swindon since the late 1980s for both new and 'classic' 911s (although I also use JZM), and I have to say they have always been excellent.

They will do collection and delivery to Hereford.

I live near Swindon and travel up to Hereford to have my VW serviced so I would recommend you travel down here for your Porsche as the local OPC is excellent. I purchased a new Boxster from them this year and am very pleased with the service. Ask for Tim.

Chester - i'd better not post my experiences of Chester here - email me if you really want my impressions, but i won't buy a washer from there never mind anything else.

Richard Baker at Cardiff was excellent when i was ringing round looking for a replacement - i felt sorry he didn't get the business, but he just couldn;t source a car to my spec, which Reading happened to have in stockm

Although from Scotland I know Richard Baker from another porsche forum where he has been an active member for sometime now, even before he became and employee of Porsche and actually owned one. Decent chap and a lot of our guys on that forum have used him for advice and sourcing cars. If you want an introduction to him let me know.

I've found Solihull (South B'ham and just off M42) quite responsive to any problems I've had. No experience of Sutton Coldfield (North B'ham) but would think Solihull is easier for you to visit?

I understand Solihull is part of the Nick Whale Sports Car Group?

I dealt with Mark Shelton in sales and found him a nice guy to buy from, tells it like it is etc.

It is owned by Nick Whale..

Seconded on your comments about Mark, however I wouldn't give the time of day to the rest..
I had a welcome pack from them today with a questionnaire- only they forgot to put the questionnaire in....typical of them..

I'd fly the flag for Wilmslow Porsche Centre. Service has been excellent - with issues dealt with promptly.
I've dealt with Jason on new cars, and Mark in pre-owned.

What he said. I have had exceptional service from Wilmslow. Good enough for me to write to the DP saying so. Never done that before.

Swindon seems to be getting a good review and I will add my name to that. I'm in Newbury and after visits to 4 OPCs I found Swindon to be the most friendly and accommodating. Ask to speak to Ceri Griffett and tell her I sent you! She is absolutely charming and SO helpful! They could not have done more before, during and after the sale, and their service department is simply superb.

As always, great help guys; many thanks.

Black8oxsa - i remember you telling me, nuff said!

OK1904 - i will indeed: could you message me your name please?

How long would it take to drive to Swindon from Hereford?

Ian

It's about 45 mins from the M5/Gloucester junction, down the A417/A419. I guess it takes you an hour or so from Hereford to Gloucester? I can see that it's quite a trip for you but meeting Ceri is worth it! Not sure how to message you my name (how do I do that?) but e-mail me at zen97098@zen.co.uk and I'll make contact. OK1904 is my car reg!

Firstly, thanks Kivne for the kind words.

I am somewhat biased working at Cardiff, but I can honestly say that there is a real passion for the brand here and both I and Ian own Porsche ourselves and our really dedicated to giving a real Porsche experience to our customers.
We are really trying to get involved with R14 and have held the Concours Event at the dealership, not through trying to get business from it but by wanting to really get into Porsche, we honestly understand that you are not just buying a car when you buy into this brand !!!

Advert over ... I can assure you that you will be well looked after if you choose us to supply you with your new car [;)]

I'd certainly recommend Richard and OPC Cardiff despite living in the NW. Excellent customer service.

Cardiff OPC are on the ball when it comes to customer service ......and Richard Baker pulls out all the stops to make your Porsche purchase easy and smooth.

Put it this way Blondey, I live near Nottingham and fully intend to try Bristol when it comes time to trade in for replacement.

Blondelawman,
Just open the member's profile and you will see OK1904's name.
You can also send emails direct.
