What are the best tyres for my 964 C4. Currently has Contisports on. Seem okay but keen to get advice.

Thanks

David

Always stuck with Continentals on mine, over the years when this question is asked most responses go for the Continentals and Toyo's(price) with a few Bridgestones about.

Bridgestone S02, on my 17's and 18's they are a bit noisey, but grip really well..

I have just fitted SO2's on mine and they are performing very well. I had Goodyear F1's on before which aren't too bad but my first impressions on the SO2's are that they are better and they are also N rated. I got mine from mytires.co.uk and they were ÂŁ440 for all four and ÂŁ60 to get them fitted and balanced.

Mine has Pirelli P Zero Rosso with an N rating. I haven't had it long enough to really decide what I think of them - anyone any views?

Pirellis ... hmm ... originally had Pirelli Directional front and Assimetrico rear on 993 (17" wheels) and loved them. When they ran out changed to Rosso (Assimetrico all round), as the same tires weren't available anymore, and didn't like them at all. Mind you don't like Continentals either (least favourite tire). Choice really is personal on tires.

As I said earlier really like S02s on my 964.

Can you still get SO2's? everywhere I tried said they'd been replaced by the SO3, which going from some peoples comments are no where near as good!

Rob

Rob.

SO2s have been brought back by popular demand as S03s were deemed by many to be not very good. I notice MyTyres are listing them.

Ian.

Thanks Ian

I'll give them a ring toprice up a set for my (forthcoming) spare road wheels.

They are indeed a personal thing, though on the road I'm not so bothered as on track. My indie hates Eagle F1's on Porsches, but lots of people swear by them for example. My least favourite tyre is the P6000 which were OE on my wife's Ibixa 1.4 (fair enough on that) but seem to find their way onto some performance cars also. Bacolite is not a good material for a performance tyre.

I'm also a Pirelli P Zero chap - however also used to fit them to my Jaguar X-Type diesel estate but that seemed to wear them out a bit too quickly for my liking (that car does 30k miles per year and it was starting to get expensive). My tyre place suggested I try Kumhos, and against my better judgement, I had a set fitted and I have to say I'm well pleased. Not quite as good in the wet as P Zeros but better in the dry and nearly half the price.
Still don't think I'd try them on my 964 though...

I have a set of Pirelli Directional front and Assimetricos available. 205/50 and 255/40. 7mm all round. Came on my RS but I run Cups on the track all the time.

If anyone wants them then email me. Open to offers.

And another for Contis - I put P-Zero Rossos on my C4 and in 4000 miles never really got used to them as they were so totally different. Loads of wet grip but lousy steering feel and initial turn in.

I will be putting Contis on my 993 when the P Zeros wear out simultaneously - probably in the summer judging by past experience.

And the Pirellis come out a lot wider too - the fronts rubbed on my turbo bodied car - and I think this is what trashes the steering feel.
