The big debate, use every day or lock up for winter

Hi guys I would be interested on views of winter use of your cars, I personally think unless you have a climate controlled dry garage it is better to use the car all year round.

Modern cars are pretty much well protected in terms of under wheel arch stone guards and overall construction materials. Lots of plastic that wears well and is not prone to rust.

I have used my Porsches year round for at least the last 16 years and not one of them (996,997,981) has had any adverse affect of the salt on the roads.

I regularly (weekly) power wash the car and of course I keep them well polished/waxed too. I additionally hose the salt off if possible after a particular bad session of gritting.

I do have the pleasure of a double garage to put my car away at night, but its not heated, and it still looks as good now as when I bought it new 5 years ago.

Thanks for the reply Peter, I do the same but I cant get mine in the garage due to my Honda Africa Twin sleeping in there.

I try and avoid salty roads but do use it on fine days year round. The only corrosion I have had on all the Porsches I have owned over nearly 30 years are to heat shields and exhaust fixings.
