Yesterday evening we had a nice little gathering from here at Donington Park [].
Kevin A and Ian H were flying the 964RS flag while yours truly was representing its humble elder 964 brother. The dynamic duo (Chris and Paul) left their respective RSs at home and arrived in a white van complete with 'custard' the racing 968 attached as did the vastly more experienced Mr Follett with his tango version (and far grander tow vehicle) []. Paz, reliable as ever, was around for the banter and to point his long lens at us (get some pics up Paz []).
Half an hour before the off my trackday curse looked to have followed me there as the rain started to come down in stair rods. Thankfully, it was all very brief and only made the sighting laps slower than usual. After that the warm evening breeze and hot tyres soon had the track as dry as bone. Perfect conditions for some spirited lapping of one of the best circuits in the country. All of us had a great time of it and burned up a lot more fuel and rubber in 3 hours than we might have thought we could.
During the relatively short pit stops a friend of mine took over my my normal tea boy duties and was treated to some great passenger rides in return. She thanks you all very much for taking away her 964RS virginity. [] Kerry, RO for the local PCGB region 8 also joined us for an hour and we also met for the first time Paul Raven who was trying out the 944 turbo he recently acquired from Mark Koberle to race in the Future Classics series. But more interesting than that was the news that he has a low mileage 964RS in amethyst tucked up in his garage!
Anyway, enough rambling, here's a few pics and videos of the RS boys in action:
Ian, you're not supposed to try and blow the bloody doors off!
The dynamic duo in action
Tea makers and happy passengers
This dodgy bloke doesn't look like he'll ever be able to afford a real one []
Here's some on track videos from my wonky Chinese eight quid spycam. Feel free to critique our lines and lack of progress []
Two 964RSs line astern
Me trying to keep Ian in sight
